Letter to Stakeholders

Miko S.r.l., with the renewal of the sustainability report, continues to maintain its commitment to making transparent to its stakeholders the performance related to the impacts generated and managed under the environmental, social and economic profile. The Company believes that stakeholder engagement and attention to the quality of reporting are indispensable elements in improving its ability to create value. For this reason, the Corporate Social Responsibility Report for fiscal year 2021 was prepared by adopting the new GRI Sustainability Reporting Standard guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative published in 2021 and verified through a third-party audit at the end of which an “assurance” of compliance was issued. The Company operates with governance centered on the values described in its Code of Ethics and organizational model pursuant to Legislative Decree 231/2001. It has long adopted management systems that include integrated policies for quality, environment and safety and has several certifications that comply with international standards (described in the section “The Company’s Certifications and Attestations”). Miko’s commitment to the environment is reflected in the characteristics of the production process by which Dinamica® microfiber is made. It is based on the use of a portion of recycled raw materials resulting in a reduction in the use of virgin raw materials and other natural resources, the use from 2021 of electricity from entirely renewable sources, and the containment of impacts related to water treatment and waste management. The Life Cycle Thinking approach makes it possible to control and assess environmental impacts throughout the product life cycle and to maintain the EPD (Environmental Product Declarations) certifications of Dinamica® Linea Auto and Dinamica® Linea Nabuk in addition to the EPD Process certification. Controlling CO2 emissions is a priority goal for Miko S.r.l., which intends to balance its carbon footprint by becoming Climate Positive by 2030. This ambition, in addition to committing the Company to controlling and reducing the environmental impacts of the production process, has led Miko S.r.l. to engage in projects aimed at absorbing more carbon dioxide emissions than it produces. In particular, Miko S.r.l. has undertaken since 2019 a project that has led to the rebirth of the Sacile Forest in Carlino (UD) and is involved in the Huong Son forest restoration project in Vietnam. These interventions have resulted in obtaining FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certification for both organic areas. The Company continued to develop significant collaborations with universities, sports clubs, and local associations and supported a number of initiatives to promote the culture of environmental sustainability (described in the section “Collaborations with the local community and cultural promotion”). Policies for environmental sustainability, research activities for innovative products, evolved in terms of design and functional and performance characteristics, distinguish the way the Company seeks the quality standards desired by its customers. Maintaining these quality levels cannot be separated from the Company’s commitment to investment in plant, machinery, infrastructure and technological innovation in general. In this respect, 2021 was marked by the beginning of a major investment in the enlargement of company space that will allow for better organization of production and company growth. In order to achieve the results highlighted in this document, the commitment and skills of Miko S.r.l.’s employees is crucial. The Company is committed to maintaining and improving working conditions and constantly supports investment in training for skills development, seeking a fair balance between time devoted to work and family.
